Bio
Jeremy Ratzlaff is a cinematographer, producer, and colourist from Treaty 4 territory in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He has lensed both scripted and documentary television series for CBC, APTN, AMI-tv, and Paramount+, as well as holding Director of Photography credits for award-winning films that have enjoyed theatrical, festival, and streaming distribution. He is an earnest advocate for Saskatchewan’s independent film community.
Why I want to run for the Board of Directors
I hold a sincere passion for the Sask filmmaking community that has been exercised over the last decade through extensive support of indie film productions, facilitating connections between producers and crews, moderating the 1,800+ member Sask Filmmakers Facebook group while regularly “spotlighting” the achievements of independent directors and producers, and constantly advocating for healthy practices and disciplines in our community. Over the past ten years I have been off-and-on the board of directors for the Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative, which has given me substantive opportunity to learn about organizational governance and policy. As a part-time producer, I have helped to foster the production of several short-form projects that have picked up a total of four Golden Sheaf Awards at the past two years of the Yorkton Film Festival. Finally, as an active Director of Photography I was recently accepted as a full member of ICG Local 669, a career which I’m incredibly grateful for and has allowed me to stay very much at the heart of the industry in our province as I’ve worked with many, many of our Sask-based directors, producers, and crews.
