Attend Free Screening Event in Memory of Trudy Stewart, March 12

On March 12 Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative, MacKenzie Art Gallery, the NFB and University of Regina Department of Film will present a free event, Remembering the Past Looking to the Future, showcasing Saskatchewan women filmmakers to honour the memory of Trudy Stewart (pictured), a well loved Saskatchewan filmmaker (and NSI alumna) who passed away in September 2019. A panel discussion will follow with Elaine Pain, Dianne Ouellette and Janine Windolph.

The lineup includes films made in various styles including animation, experimental and cinema verité.

  • NSI IndigiDocs film From Up North by Trudy Stewart and Janine Windolph
  • Buffalo Calling by Tasha Hubbard (NSI IndigiDocs)
  • NSI IndigiDocs film ahkameyimo nitanis (Keep Going My Daughter) by Candy Fox (and Chris Ross)
  • Land of the Free by Dianne Ouellette and Margaret Orr
  • First Stories ati-wîcahsin (It’s Getting Easier) by Tessa Cook
  • Stories in the Bones by Janine Windolph (NSI IndigiDocs)

The event takes place in the Shumiatcher Theatre at MacKenzie Art Gallery. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the screening starts at 7 p.m.
