A SMPIA Explainer – Directing Actors
Events / Workshops
Directing actors can be one of the most rewarding experiences a filmmaker can have-or one of the most traumatic! The difference between a good experience and a bad one usually comes down to trust.
“When an actor feels they cannot trust the director to know the difference between a good and bad performance, they will lose faith and start to direct themselves. They do this, not out of spite or ego, but to protect themselves and their craft.” ~Peter Marshall
Join veteran director, Peter Marshall to discuss the craft of filmmaking, his experience as a director and directing coach, and how he develops trust with actors.
Peter D. Marshall is a filmmaker, author and directing coach from Vancouver. He was raised in Regina and has worked in the Film and TV industry for over 45 years as a Film Director, Television Producer, First Assistant Director, and TV Series Consultant. For the past 8 years, Peter has lived and worked in Shanghai, China.
